Inventor Timothy Walraven of Bryson City, NC has developed an innovative new solution for protecting your shower drain during construction.

Preventing mortar and other debris from entering a shower drain during construction is a considerable challenge. The drain is highly vulnerable to clogs from mortar, grout, and construction materials, which can disrupt the functionality of the drainage system.

After installing several DIY showers with dry-pack mortar beds, Timothy became concerned that small pebbles or tile spacers might obstruct the weepholes on his shower drain, leading to sediment buildup from mortar or dirt. With no solution for this on the marketplace, Timothy was inspired to create a way for weepholes to remain clear, preventing costly repairs from potential water damage and mold growth. Now, the Weephole Cover for Dry Pack Shower Pan Drains is ready for market!

But how does it work? By threading securely onto the shower drain connection, the invention blocks dry pack mortar from clogging weepholes. It also functions as a locking nut for threaded drain barrels, letting installers accurately gauge the thickness of the pre-tile mortar bed. Additionally, the invention eliminates the use of pebbles and/or tile spacers to prevent weepholes from clogging.
