Story Behind the Invention
Sun glare is one of the most underestimated hazards on the road. Standard vehicle visors block light from directly overhead, but drivers are routinely left squinting through blinding gaps especially during sunrise and sunset commutes, or when the sun hits at a low side angle. Inventor Kelly Vaughn experienced this frustration firsthand and set out to solve it.
The result is the Visor Wing, a compact auxiliary shade device designed to clip onto any existing vehicle visor and pivot to block glare from angles that factory visors simply cannot reach.
The Visor Wing features a disc-shaped body approximately two to three inches in diameter, constructed from durable, lightweight materials such as plastic or hybrid composites. A built-in U-shaped clip snaps securely over the visor edge no tools, adhesives, or permanent modifications required. At the heart of the design is a 360-degree pivoting mechanism that lets the shade body rotate independently of the clip, so drivers can aim the coverage precisely where it’s needed most.
“Every driver has dealt with that moment where the sun is right in your eyes and the visor does nothing,” said Vaughn. “The Visor Wing fills that gap literally. It’s simple, it’s affordable, and it works.”
