Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Marta Caballero of Fort Worth, TX has designed a specialized tool to aid in the removal of thumb tacks. The idea was born after struggling to remove flat thumb tacks from walls, boards, cork boards, and other areas. Marta would break fingernails while using butter knives and many other items to try to remove the tacks. Sometimes this would cause damage to the area in which they needed to be removed. Also, no matter how the thumb tacks are removed, they invariably pop loose and fly across the room where they become lost and become a puncture hazard. Finally, enough was enough and Marta just knew there had to be a better way. In turn, she was inspired to create Tac-Key: a device that is so simple that children, adults, and those with limited handgrip can use it successfully to remove tacks without damaging the area or breaking nails.
