Inventor Hector Gonzales Introduces the Drop Top Canopy, a Sliding Shade Solution for Outdoor Comfort

New portable canopy design allows users to reposition shade as the sun moves throughout the day.

Inventor Hector Gonzales is proud to introduce the Drop Top Canopy, an innovative outdoor shade system designed to provide better sun protection during sporting events, backyard gatherings, camping trips, tailgates, and other outdoor activities.

Unlike traditional canopies that primarily block sunlight when the sun is directly overhead, the Drop Top Canopy is designed with a sliding shade system that allows the canopy material to move along an arched frame. This helps users adjust the shaded area as the sun changes position throughout the day.

The invention features two arched support frames, a track-style rail system, a movable shade sail, adjustable legs, and a foldable portable design. The shade sail can slide along the frame to provide coverage from different sun angles, making it especially useful during mid-morning and late-afternoon activities when conventional canopies often provide limited relief.

“I wanted to create a canopy that could do more than just sit overhead,” said inventor Hector Gonzales. “The goal was to give people a simple way to move the shade where they actually need it.”

The Drop Top Canopy is designed for quick setup, easier storage, and convenient transport. Its adjustable legs allow users to customize the height, while the folding frame helps make the system more practical for families, sports spectators, outdoor vendors, and anyone who spends extended time in the sun.
