Story Behind the Invention

Inventors Matthew Thomas and Lee Lugo of Crown Point, IN have created a tool for changing the skimmer filter on a pool with ease and efficiency.

When Matthew and his wife, Julie, bought a house in 2018, they inherited an above ground swimming pool. Changing the skimmer filter on the pool immediately proved challenging. There was simply no tool available to help. It was like trying to open a giant jar of pickles with no grip, let alone leverage. As a welder, Matthew was inspired to design a tool to provide the needed grip and leverage for the task. Alongside Lee, the two have brought the Skimmer Tool to market.

But how does it work? The invention fits over the handle of a skimmer and assists with opening the skimmer on an above ground pool. It provides the needed grip and leverage to perform the task without struggle. The tool itself is strong, durable, and easy to store in between uses.
