Story Behind the Invention

Canadian Inventor Adele Conn Introduces Roll and Deal A Trick-Taking Card Game Where Custom Dice Control Every Deal

New tabletop game combines strategic bidding with dice-driven unpredictability for 2-4 players

Ontario, Canada Inventor Adele Conn has unveiled Roll and Deal, an original trick-taking card game that puts a fresh spin on classic card play by introducing a pair of custom dice that shape every round. A design patent application for the proprietary dice pair has been filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Roll and Deal is played with a standard deck of cards and two specially designed dice. At the start of each round, a 12-sided die determines how many cards each player receives, while a 6-sided die selects the trump suit or gives the dealer the choice. Players then bid the exact number of tricks they believe they can win. Accurate bids earn points; missed bids score nothing.

“I wanted to create a game that keeps everyone guessing from the very first roll,” said Conn. “The dice add an element of surprise that makes every round feel completely different, but the bidding keeps it strategic. You can’t just get lucky you have to read the table.”

The game accommodates 2 to 4 players across 16 rounds of escalating gameplay. Its straightforward rules make it accessible to families and casual players, while the exact-bid scoring mechanic offers depth for experienced card game enthusiasts.
