Inventor Bradley Cook of Gresham, OR has created a tow hitch pin guard that protectively encases a locking pin and mechanism, preventing unauthorized removal of valuable drop hitches while maintaining full functionality for authorized users.

The idea was sparked by personal experience. As the owner of a truck and a boat needing a 9-inch drop hitch, Bradley relied on a drop hitch that cost almost $400. One spring night, he found that five neighboring households, each with a similar truck, had lost their drop hitches to theft. Only a few rubber O-rings remained as evidence. Security footage revealed the thieves worked quietly and didnt need grinders or heavy tools. Instead, they slipped a crimped, oversized pipe over the hitch pins and used leverage to snap the locking mechanism, making it easy to remove the pin and steal the hitches while staying unnoticed. In turn, Bradley was inspired to take action.
