Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Charles S. Hayden of Upper Marlboro, MD has created an adjustable ladder platform that makes it safer and easier to use a ladder on uneven surfaces. While working on a siding job in Great Falls, VA, Charles came upon an extended area, which was on top of a pitched roof. He needed a way to reach up another 8 feet to access it. In turn, he put a 3-foot level on the ridge of the roof, raised it until it was level, and measured down. When he was satisfied with his measurements, he proceeded to build a platform to those specifications. It worked perfectly! Charles found himself in the same predicament a few months later and had to build it again. This pitch was a little steeper than the one before. That is when it occurred to him that he needed to build one that could adjust to a variety of pitches. Later, he was doing a paint job on a large stairwell and his ladder could only lean in one direction on the steps. He thought about his platform. With a couple more bolts and strips of wood, the problem was no more! Now, his Ladder Sidekick has been further developed and is ready for market! The invention has a sturdy platform wide enough for all standard ladders, and it has two adjustable steel rods that allow you to position the platform securely with the attached level. It even comes with four step support legs for using your ladder safely on stairs. After use, simply fold it up for easy storage.Want to learn more about the Ladder Sidekick?
