Story Behind the Invention
After working in the nursing profession for over 20 years, Inventor Angela D. Williams of Canada was well aware that devices requiring the removal of hair before application increase the risk of infection. Invasive devices requiring insertion into the urethra opening also pose an increased risk for infection as well as trauma to the urethra walls. After attending a nursing conference in New Orleans in 2016, Williams returned feeling inspired and just knew there had to be a better way! In turn, she created the Woe Cath - an external catheter for collecting urine without risk of infection by shaving or inserting a tube into the urethra.
This medical grade silicone shaped reservoir will stretch and increase in volume to accommodate surges of urine and will provide a comfortable fit as the body warms the device. Its sticky adhesive will secure the device without a user having to shave.
