Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Joanne Vaul of Stone Harbor, NJ has designed a swivel mechanism for beach chairs that allows users to easily move back and forth while tanning, having conversation with others, or enjoying the view, wherever they are. Joanne calls the beach home. Like many, she loves watching the waves, children at play, and getting a great tan. Beach chairs, however, sit very low to the ground and are not easy to get in and out of when making minor adjustments to the direction you are facing. She just knew there had to be a way to easily pivot a beach chair without having to stand up and readjust. In turn, she was inspired to create a swivel mechanism called the Sundial Swivel! Simply clip the mechanism to the bottom of your favorite beach chair and tighten the clips. No need to buy a new chair! Once in position, you will be able to spin 360 degrees on the swivel base. The swivel mechanism sits at least 4 inches off the ground, so it does not sit in the sand or grass. It is also encased in a plastic cover to keep it from getting wet, sandy, or dirty. The swivel was designed to be lightweight for easy transport to the beach or field. Want to learn more about the Sundial Swivel?
